This an early Mitchell reel, the same model as the famous Mitchell 300, but not labeled as such. I just did some research and I believe that this is the first version of the second series of this reel. That means that it would have been made sometime during the earlier portion of the time from 1940 and 1945. Prior to my working on it, the grease had hardened and it was very hard to turn the crank, and the anti-reverse did not operate and its control spring was installed wrong (someone probably tried to get it working long before I tore into it).
