A Life Dedicated to Fishing Before Skeet Reese was one of the most successful fishermen in the country, he was simply a kid who loved to fish. He was born in Monmouth, Mississippi, but his hometown is Auburn, California. His home lake is Clear Lake, north of San Francisco, and he has often said that this is his absolute favorite lake to fish. This is where he learned to catch a wide variety of species, including the ever-popular largemouth bass. He spent a large amount of time on Clear Lake, and learned many of the techniques that would make him a success. Skeet took his passion for fishing and became a professional angler in the early 90’s. He built his skill, honed his craft, and continued to learn about fishing. As his career progressed, he became a better and better fisherman. He currently has 59 top ten finishes in professional fishing tournaments, with ten 2nd place finishes and six 1st place finishes. Through persistence, dedication, and commitment, Skeet Reese was named 2007 B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year. He has competed in 11 Bassmaster Classics, winning the tournament in 2009. During this 1st place run, Skeet brought in a total of 54 pounds and 13 ounces. According to his Bassmaster profile, he has caught over 6,800 pounds of bass and has earned roughly $2.8 million in winnings. Despite his busy professional fishing schedule, Skeet still finds time to share his tips and tricks with other fishing enthusiasts. His tips cover rigging techniques, casting, approach, equipment, and more. Using Flipping and Pitching Skeet’s favorite and most successful fishing techniques are flipping and pitching. They can be very difficult to master, as they use more of a subtle, underhand motion to accurately place lures, usually plastic worms.
