A wound is a break or damage in the surface of the skin and it can be accidental as well as surgical. Debridement plays an imperative role in healing a complicated injuries. There are various methods that are available and Maggot Debridement could be one of this. Maggot therapy is a type of biotherapy involving the introduction of live, disinfected maggots (fly larvae). The flies used most often for the purpose of maggot therapy are blow flies of the Calliphoridae: the blow fly species used most commonly is Lucilia sericata, the common green bottle fly. It is an effective technique for debriding wounds that was used especially in the previous centuries.
