This is a very neat fishing pole or rod and reel holder. It is handmade and solid. It is at least 55 years old and is in great condition for its age. The only real wear is chips and dings to the wood. I have pictured the flaws and can send more photos if needed. It is made of a mixture of woods. I assume the wood worker had a variety and used what he had. It has lots of character. The drawer secures to it with a peg-Very cool. The drawer comes in and out nicely. The dowel holding the rods in place is secured at the top with a piece of U shaped iron and held at the bottom with a peg. I have tried to picture the peg system. The drawer has antique looking hardware. There is a place that looks like a key hole, but there is no key. I do not know if there ever was one. This beautiful wood worked piece would make a great gift for the fisherman or make a great piece for his man cave. It measures 28”x24”x6”.
