Hello salmon anglers: In 1979 I asked Harold Sharpe (he of the J.S. Sharpes fishing rods) to make two 14'0 impregnated spliced ferrule salmon rod blanks for me, which he reluctantly did. I made all of the hardware for both of them, and this one has a sliding band over a maple wood spacer which, because I tapered the inside of the band to 4 degrees to fit the AFTMA slope of any reel foot, holds the reel tightly to the spacer. The reel seat will not accommodate the older 3 .5 inch reel feet that Hardy Bros. once made. This rod, which for me cast a DTF 11 line with ease, has a nice agate stripping guide and a rubber button at the the end of the butt section. I asked Harold for a rod bag that did not have the Sharpes logo stitched on it, and he obliged. There are no repairs, nor are any needed, and all of the four sections are full-length. If memory serves I used this rod on the Cascapedia only four or five times. It comes with four of the five wooden spliced ferrule protectors - can't find the fifth one! $1,275 US - insurance and postage paid to CONUS. As is often the case, I will consider a partial trade for quality fly reels.
