The amount of awesome hiking opportunities in this region literally shocked me! Couple of my favorites: 🥾 Standing Stone Trail: Butler Knob to Throne Room (about 4 miles RT). 🥾 Shorb’s Summit Via Thousand Steps Trail (this was my favorite)! About 9 miles RT and a little over 1800 ft elevation gain. 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 / 𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐭? 🌅 Hawn’s Overlook is a must! It’s one of the most gorgeous views for sunrise / sunset I’ve yet to see in the whole state! 🌅 Stone Mountain Hawk’s Watch where there’s a viewing platform and panoramic views! 𝐎𝐧 𝐑𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞.. 💦 During the summer, you can rent paddle boards and kayaks from @rothrockoutfitters ! But, there are so many water adventures to be had year round: fishing, swimming, paddling, boating.. CLIFF JUMPING + more. The water here is SO blue!!! Bluest I’ve seen in PA! 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲? 🛌 Stay at @airydaleretreat - a beautiful glamping retreat with nature-inspired canvas wall tents, domes and even a newly added tiny home! All their accommodations are situated back on a wonderfully wooded property minutes from Raystown Lake (and so close to so many adventures) in Central, PA.
